i believe i can fly!! weight-bearing days 1 & 2

As promised, I've documented my first steps for you guys - I was so anxious to take them. With step #1 I began sweating profusely. It's hard to totally let go and fully step down, I still find myself holding some weight up with my harms (which I think is the point of walking with the crutches, to have that option), but I think I'm getting better at it.

I couldn't help it with the cheesy song, it got in my head and stayed there...sorry.  Oh, and all of those boxes are from the new furniture we got this weekend, they won't be in the next videos :)

I'm pretty sure these are the most boring videos in the world, but if you like them, keep a lookout for more, I'll be documenting my walking progress at all of its various stages.

  1. I can't wait to get to this point but I still have 2 more weeks until I can put weight on my broken foot. My other ankle was severely sprained so I haven't stood up for 2 months. My torture sessions...I mean PT sessions have really helped.

    2. It does suck but I have been doing more yoga and stretching so it really helps. I'm using the pillow under the foot and also ordered some toe stretchers. lol

  3. I know this is a much older post, but I just found your blog through Pinterest. I’m 2 weeks post op, 3 weeks in a splint, and it might be my pregnancy hormones going nuts, but I’m laying in bed crying over your video. It doesn’t feel like I’ll ever reach that point again. I decided the BEST time to break my right fibula was at 34 weeks pregnant. Now I’m 37 weeks pregnant and can’t use crutches correctly. I have to sidewind with my good ankle to get from place to place while supported on crutches. That’s putting so much pressure on my one good ankle and it’s starting to hurt. I get my cast on this Wednesday and hope to start using the scooter I have so I can be more mobile. As ready as I am to have this baby, I’m scared to death of injuring myself during delivery and then recovering from two major medical issues at the same time.

    1. Omg I broke my ankle when I was 37 weeks pregnant!!! My surgeon waited until my son was born (now 3 months old) to do my surgery (trimalleola). Giving birth in a cast is an experience isn’t it? Anyway, how did you go? I am now 11 weeks post op (1 week post op from syndesmosis screw removal) and day 4 of FWB. Gosh it’s huuuurting trying to walk! I hope you’re fully recovered and I assume with a 2 year old now!
