calf exercises for that puny excuse for a leg

I promise, you definitely won't care to watch this video unless you've had ankle surgery. Or you just really like watching me babble and do things. It's all about re-building your ankle and calf after a calf-atrophy. It's a slow slow process but it's gotta be done. Hopefully you're not as hard on your calf as I am on mine...a weak ugly calf needs love too :)

  1. Hi Mihal! I'm glad to see that you have new posts. Yep, there really are people out there following your journey and being encouraged by it. So thanks! I am almost 10 weeks post-fracture (no surgery) and just yesterday I took my first steps (in the boot, without crutches). I wasn't planning to try until they told me to in PT, but it just kinda happened. I am THRILLED! I have been doing PT for the past two weeks, as well as some chair aerobics for the rest of the body. Sometimes it seems like people around me expect me to be healing faster than I am. But maybe they are just surprised that it takes so long...and so am I! It's CRAZY that one little random misstep (I missed the last step going down a flight of stairs) can lead to weeks and months of problems. I can tell that my foot is more flexible now, but the nearly non-existent calf muscle is disturbing. It creeps me out that my legs look (and feel, and function) so different from each other. Anyway, thanks and hang in there! --Lisa

  2. Thank you for posting your progress! I'm at 4 mos. post op and have been getting discouraged with how long this frozen ankle is taking to heal. Reading your progress shows me that I'm probably at normal level at this time. It sure is frustrating to not have the flexibility.....only pain, hardness and swelling.
